LOCAL 2195 UAW, RETIREE CHAPTER

MEETING, MONDAY, JUNE 8

11:00 am

Post 15 AMERICAN LEGION

DECATUR, AL

I hope this finds everyone doing well. I know we have lost some of our members this month, and more and more we are dealing with those who are enduring sickness, which prevents them from getting out and about.  As we age, Father Time continues to remind us of one fact: age is not always friendly.

As we announced last month, we will be having a meal at this month's membership meeting.

We have asked, as usual, if you can bring a cover dish of your choice. Desserts are always welcome.

We will be providing meat, potatoes, bread, and salad. We also furnish tea, coffee, and water.

If you would like something different, you will have to furnish it for yourself. We will have a variety of dressings for the salad.  Should you desire anything special, you might want to bring it.

(This will be our last meeting until September)

Our health care providers are scheduled to be at the meeting: Blue Cross and United-Healt-Care.  If you have an issue, this will provide you with an opportunity to address it with these representatives.

June 14 will be the start of the UAW's 39th Constitutional Convention: A lot is going on in our Union since our last Convention. The changes made at the 38th Convention to elect our International Officers by individual vote have created problems and confusion. This was a major change in the UAW's long-established procedure for electing the International Officers by the membership's elected delegates.

Most of you should have received a card in the mail informing you of the upcoming International Union's Election.

We will answer any questions and discuss this further at the meeting.

As we always do, we have a motion and vote at the beginning of the year to approve the leadership's participation in the conferences called by the International Union.  I was approved to attend this conference in that vote.

If things go well, I will attend the 39th as approved earlier.

We will have a good meal at the meeting, we are preparing for seventy-five. We always welcome more; however, that is about what we average. Unfortunately, we have lost many members over the last few years.

We hope you can attend the meeting.

In Solidarity,

Chuck
