Retiree Meeting Local 2195

Monday, April 14, 2025

11:00 am

American Legion Post 15

Decatur, AL

I hope everyone is doing well. A lot is going on in our Country, and much of the talk and potential actions could have serious effects on our retirees.

Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, just to name a few.  The ongoing elimination of government departments is causing layoffs of thousands of workers. It is reported that 80 thousand working in the Veterans Administration have received notice of job terminations.

The Department of Health and Human Services has terminated several employees, and it is reported there are more to come.

We will have two of our providers at our meeting, Blue Cross and United Health Care.

I have read several complaints on social media (FB) regarding problems members are having with their medicine.  If you have problems, I would suggest that you talk with our providers; that is why we invite them to our meeting. The Reps. are an excellent resource to address your problems.

We continue to see reports:  We have the best health-care coverage of any industrial blue-collar retiree group anywhere.

I know one thing for sure it is a major blessing for my family and I receive calls and talk with our members almost everyday who tell me about the many serious health issues they have and how our insurance coverage is second to none and how much money it has saved them in medical bills and with the medicine they take. The O.C.T. card has provided a lot of cost savings to our members.

I hope to see you at our meeting.

In Solidarity

P.S. I want to give a shout out of thanks and appreciation to John Davis and Amy Terry Seymore for keeping us updated on the passing of our members and their families. We could do it without you guys.
