February Retiree Meeting

Monday February 10
11:00 am
American Legion Post 15
Decatur, AL

At the meeting our Insurance Representatives from Blue Cross and Aetna are schedule to be available for any problems you may be having and would like to address.

Also at the meeting will be the Representative of the UAW Retiree Medical Benefit Trust, they will provide information; How to deal with problems you might have with the Insurance providers. As you have been made aware we no longer have a Retiree Representative in Atlanta, Deborah Garcia's job was eliminated as of September of 2019.

Our sponsor for our luncheon is once again Lynn Layton Chevrolet of Decatur. We appreciate and acknowledge Lynn and Jeff's long relationship and support of our Retiree Chapter. Their only request is if they can assist you with any of your new or used care needs, don't hesitate to call on them. They appreciated our member’s years of patronage.

I send out a few hundred email for notification I try to only send out related information that our members need to be aware of. I'm the first one to acknowledge there are many people that are a lot smarted than I am, but I don't believe there is anyone more dedicated too seeking out the truth for our members and working people as a whole. On occasion I find that my position or info might piss-off some members and I do regret that however my intention is to provide the best info that I is Union related and sometimes they are political. Both are tied together and extremely important to our existence. Our late great President of the UAW, Walter P. Reuther always reminded us, "the ballot box and the bread box are one in the same." What can be negotiated at the table can be taken away with one piece of legislation or a Supreme Court ruling.

One of the main reasons the Corporation do not have to negotiate for improvements in Retiree benefits is due to a Supreme Court Ruling.

Hope to see you at the meeting.
In solidarity, Chuck McDonald
